Ultralift Plus Magnetic Lifter
A safer way to lift steel
Sheffield-based TDR Transmissions Ltd recently bought one of our Ultralift+500 kg magnetic lifters and is now enjoying the benefits. TDR is a leading stockist and reconditioning specialist of a multitude of industrial drives, fixed reduction, and variable speed drives. They also offer a 24-hour breakdown service.
The TDR team is now using the Ultralift+ in various locations within their workshop. Typically for stacking, loading, and feeding saws, lathes, and milling machines. The high-performance magnetic lifter is used to move EN24T steel bars and blocks. The round bar can be up to 2 metres in length and 200 mm in diameter.
Before using a magnetic lifter, the TDR team were using slings. These proved time-consuming, as they required access to the underside of the workpiece to lift the load and required some manual intervention, thereby increasing the health and safety risk. Requiring only single face contact, the Ultralift+ engages with the load in seconds with minimal manual intervention. Built-in safety mechanisms also minimise health and safety risks through misuse.
Darren Haynes, Workshop Manager commented, “We are really pleased with the Ultralift+; it offers distinct advantages over slings. It gives us faster set-up times, only needs a single operator to move the load, and significantly reduces any health and safety risks, such as finger traps. With operator safety paramount, it’s also important that we deal with a supplier who offers an annual lifter checking and certification service to ensure the lifter is always in tip-top condition”.
The Ultralift+ is available in 4 models up to 1000 kg lift capacity. It forms part of our range of lifting and handling systems, covering a wide range of applications from light-duty pick and place to heavy steel stock movement. Each option is based on fail-safe, efficient magnetic technology. To find out more about TDR Transmissions Ltd click here or read more about magnetic lifting and handling systems.
